Leviathan coming at you at C2E2

I’ll be at C2E2 this weekend alongside John Layman and Nick Pitarra to promote our upcoming book, LEVIATHAN!

You can read all about the book, out in August, here on IGN:
http://www.ign.com/articles/2018/02/21/leviathan-is-final-destination-meets-godzilla

You can find Nick and myself at table V-16 in Artist Alley. Layman will be hanging at the table at times during the weekend as well. In addition, the three of us will be signing at the Image Comics booth from 2-3pm on Friday, April 6th.

We will have a small number of copies of an ashcan of the entire first issue of LEVIATHAN – with colored, inked, and penciled pages to give you an extended peek into the art process. There will also be an exclusive print (limited to 100 copies) of the cover to issue #1 of LEVIATHAN.

THE MANHATTAN PROJECTS: THE SUN BEYOND THE STARS

I am now the colorist on Manhattan Projects! I took over the book beginning with vol. 6 – The Sun Beyond the Stars – with Jonathan Hickman and Nick Pitarra. (Collection available now!)

I’ve also been doing a bunch of covers with Nick (most of which you can see at my Facebook page above) and we’re cooking up a secret project that will probably be along sometime later in the year.

THE BLACK MONDAY MURDERS – AUGUST 2016

Speaking of Jonathan Hickman, I’ll also be coloring The Black Monday Murders with artist Tomm Coker. The book was announced at the most recent Image Expo and will be out this August for your visual pleasure.

Check out a rundown of the book at Comics Alliance above as well as some preview art by Tomm and myself.

TheViolent-TP1_cvr

THE VIOLENT

Also at Image, I’m coloring The Violent, with writer Ed Brisson and Adam Gorham. Issue 5, the last of the first arc – Blood Like Tar – will be out soon and the collection will follow shortly thereafter. If you like desperate people in desperate situations doing desperate things, you’ll love this book.

Go. Read.

HeroesCon16

Lastly, I’ll be at HEROES CON again this year on June 17-19 in Charlotte, NC. I’m crashing Nick Pitarra’s table at AA-911. Come find me and say hi.

I’m currently taking COMMISSIONS for the show, so GET AT ME if you’re interested.

I’m doing full commissions as well as color commissions if you’ve got some b&w art you want all gussied up.

Heroes Con and The Fiction #1

I’ll be at Heroes Con in Charlotte this weekend. You’ll find me sandwiched between Ryan Bodenheim and Nick Pitarra in Artist’s Alley at AA-1220. Come say hi!

I’ll be doing commissions all weekend. Email me or message me to set something up in advance. Prices are as follows:

Examples of recent commissions can be found here.

Today also sees the release of The Fiction #1 from Boom! Studios by Curt Pires, David Rubin, Colin Bell, and myself. Reviews have been great so far, so don’t feel like you have to take my word for it. But to whet your whistle, here’s 6 pages of preview art.

THE DYING AND THE DEAD out February 28th plus Elmira store signing!

I’m also thrilled to be reuniting with my Secret cohorts Jonathan Hickman and Ryan Bodenheim for The Dying and the Dead! The first issue comes out this coming Wednesday and is a monterous 60 pgs for the low, low price of only 4.50. That’s basically 3 issues for a little more than the price of your copy of Batman. And besides, Batman really doesn’t need your money. He’s a billionaire.

Here’s an interview with Hickman over at Newsarama and a great write up over at Comics Alliance discussing the series, along with some art to get you in the mood.

I will also be appearing at Heroes Your Mom Threw Out comic shop in Elmira, NY on Saturday the 31st with Ryan Bodenheim to sign copies and draw some sketches. I know it means venturing out into the sun – or in the case of Upstate NY in January, the gray – but we would love to hang out with all of you and decrease the value of your comic by smearing sharpie all over it.

CLUSTER debuting February 4th

I’ve got some upcoming projects on the very near horizon, and here are some pages to whet your appetite. From Boom! Studios and some killer collaborators in Ed Brisson and Damian Couciero.

Here’s an interview with Ed and Damian talking up our new book. It’s some super cool, gritty, sc-fi action starring a bunch of prisoners forced to battle aliens to avoid a life sentence. Yeah, it’s basically The Dirty Dozen in space. It’s exactly as awesome as it sounds.

Here are a few pages that have gotten out into the webosphere, sans letters:

Catching Up: Big Trouble in Little China and The Empty Man

Happy Colorist Appreciation Day!

Well, I let this lie dormant for far too long. I update my Facebook page a little more regularly – you check that out and follow me over at https://www.facebook.com/MichaelGarlandColors

I’ve been keeping myself very busy, and here’s a smattering of pages from some of what I’ve been up to.

Big Trouble In Little China #1-4

Loved having the opportunity to work with Brian Churilla and Eric Powell on the continuing adventures of Jack Burton and the Pork Chop Express. Unfortunately my time on the book was pretty short lived, due to time constraints.

Some of my favorite pages:

The Emprty Man

Vanesa Del Rey is one of the most unique and dynamic artists working today, and it was very cool to stretch my colored legs in a more abstract direction working with her. And Cullen Bunn is none too shabby a writer.

Next up a taste of what’s to come.

Secret 6 and 7 Colors

Secret has finally wrapped up. It was an amazingly fulfilling book to work on with some of the best collaborators in the business – Jonathan Hickman and Ryan Bodenheim. Look for the trade collecting the entire 7 issue series at some point soon in a comic shop near you.

In the meantime, here’s some of the unlettered art for issues 6 and 7. As always, lines by Ryan Bodenheim and colors by yours truly.

See y’all this weekend!

Robocop: Beta Colors

Out with the old, in with the new. I also had the pleasure of coloring one of Boom’s Robocop one shots tying in to the new movie. There were 4 in total, with Ed Brisson, Emilio Laiso, ans myself bringing up the rear with Robocop: Beta. Telling the untold story of the failed Robocop before Alex Murphy. Sort of the black Captain America of the Robocop U. Except they’re both white guys.
